I never thought it would all happen quite so soon, it's been just under 3 months since I had the coil mirena removed, the second attempt I should add and a somewhat painful experience which is sure to deter me from ever having another fitted in the future.
Anyway, had someone told me we would conceive so quickly, I probably would have laughed with hysteria. I think perhaps, I was trying not to get my hopes up too much at any point, the endless months of negative tests and the witch showing her face can become somewhat tiring and the disappointment never gets easier... just worse.
It takes the average healthy couple up to one year to conceive, that is without the odds of previous Birth control going against you and the Mirena is coil that releases hormones into your system over a period of up to 5 years. Added to that, the Mirena gave me multiple cysts on both my ovaries, throughout the course of the 2.5 years I had it. These were very painful as they grew to 4cm at one point which is possible bigger than my actual ovary!! So I was curious of how this would effect TTC.
To get our BFP on cycle number 3 is pretty shocking as well as exciting. And I can tell you there is no one more excited than me right now, ok maybe Aston is equally excited!
So perhaps I should go back a little to when I first had the mirena removed. It was the gynaecologists second attempt after referral to the hospital where they had more 'specialist equipment' as the first gyni had put it. 'Specialist equipment'? what are they going to do to me?! I envisioned the sorts of torturous instruments I had to look forward to in a matter of weeks. And yep, Torture it was!
So there is me after the removal, feeling a little worse for wear but happy the ordeal was over and that we could finally get to the baby making that had been planned for months!
My cycles regulated really quickly, I started the take my temps in the morning every day upon waking (like straight away, before you move, before you sit up, before you get out of bed, literally when you open one eye and temp lol at the same time every day, give or take 30mins) I found it easiest to temp when Aston got up for work. Worked out that my luteal phase is 13 days! fab! On Cycle 2, i had a blasted 'evap'... its a smudge of dye on the pregnancy test which can lead you to believe you have a positive when in fact you don't. Blue dyes are the worst for them, so I tend to stick to red dye sticks! And boy, did I pee on a lot of sticks! wheres the embarrassed smiley?? :\
Cycle 3 however, was a little different. I ovulated a lot earlier than expected and it's a good thing we were getting in some practise haha!
9 days later, I am standing in my bathroom with what appears to be a second line? Is it a real line? Have I been staring at it for so long now that I am 'seeing things'? So I show Aston and he thinks there is one too, not like last months Evap but a line...!
So off we go into town, Pizza hut, shopping and a last stop at Superdrugs for some FRER's (first response early result preg tests)
Later on we are home and I have held my pee for as long as physically possible!
1 minute....
2 minutes....
Me: Can I look yet?
Aston: dont look yet?
3 minutes... Theres a line!! BFP... theres a Line!! hehehehehe all giggly and smooochy smoochy!
We tell George, our gorgeous boy, that he is going to be a big brother. He says 'Yeah!!!' I ask if he would like I brother or a sister and he exclaims 'Brudda', Im certain that means brother and that he would love someone to play cars with! :)
So here I am 10dpo today, already done 3 different tests today. Im not sure why, i guess its nice to see that line getting a little darker each time and I took a Digi too.... so I could see the words 'Pregnant 1-2' Makes it seem so much more real! Now, I am just waiting for someone to wake me up from this dream!!! :D
